Easy Science Fair Project Experiments

When it comes to science fair projects, many children do not know what kind of projects or experiments to choose from. Basically, there are various branches of science such as chemistry, physics, biology, microbiology, environmental science, biochemistry, etc. So, first decide the area of your interest to make a choice. Here are a few ideas that you can use.

Saturation point occurs when a substance can no longer dissolve in a solution at a given temperature. To conduct this experiment, follow the given procedure.

Procedure:

• Take a saucepan, and pour 400 ml water in it.
• Add a pinch of sugar to water, and stir the water well.
• Repeat this process several times.
• You would notice that the sugar gets dissolved very easily initially. However, the dissolving process becomes slow, and, at a certain point, the sugar stops dissolving in water, irrespective of stirring hard.

• This is the saturation point of the water.
• You can also experiment how temperature can change the saturation point of a solution or substance.
• To do this, you can heat the mixture and you will see the sugar dissolves much easily as the temperature of the water increases.

Procedure:

• First, take a vase and plant some seedlings in it.
• Now, water it regularly, and keep it in the sunlight.
• Once the plant grows a little, keep it in a dark room, but continue watering it.
• After a few days, you will see that the plant has bent in the direction of the light.

• You will also see that the height of the plant has increased.
• To further study, how important is the light for a plant to survive, keep it in the completely dark room to deprive the plant from getting the sunlight.
• After few days you will notice that the plant is dead.

Procedure:

• Fill a glass with water.
• Now add the color and stir it well, so that the color mixes well with water.
• Now take the celery stalks, and place them in water vertically.

• After a few seconds, you will observe that the water is being absorbed by the celery, and is rising up slowly. This happens due to the effect of capillary action.
• It occurs due to the intermolecular attractive forces between the liquid and solid surrounding surfaces.

Procedure:

• Get some raw fruits, say apples or bananas.
• Take two baskets, and put the same number of fruits in them.
• Say, two to three apples in each basket.
• Now, spray ethylene gas on one of the baskets and label it.

• Keep the two baskets separately for around 24 hours.
• Check how much the fruits have ripened.
• You will observe that the fruits sprayed with ethylene are more ripened, than those which weren't sprayed.
• It shows that ethylene speeds up the process of ripening in fruits.
