You will need three types of soil; clay, sand and loam for this experiment. Take three tall glass tubes and plug one of their ends with glass wool. Fill each of these tubes with sand, clay and loam. Take a large vessel containing water and immerse the tubes vertically in it.

The capillary action of the soil causes the water to rise upward in the tube. Measure the water level in each of the tubes after a few days and find out which of the three soils shows the maximum capillary action.

This experiment allows you to purify water using several mechanisms. The assembly includes a glass beaker, filter paper, funnel, glass tube, filter stand etc. Take some muddy water in a beaker and let it settle for some time. Attach the funnel to the filter stand and place a beaker to collect filtered water from the end of funnel.

Fold the filter paper in four folds and place it inside the funnel. Pour muddy water through the glass tube in the funnel, without disturbing it. Collect the water in the second beaker and pour it into two identical glass jars.

Treat water in the first jar with alum and leave the jars undisturbed for a couple of hours. Observe the clarity of water in the two beakers and note your observations.

This behavioral science experiment allows you to study the effect of different music genres on the human mind. Conduct your survey in a kindergarten or a day care center. Play different genres of music and study how kids respond to each of these genres. Also, study the correlation between music and sleep pattern of kids. Note your observations.

Do you want to check how many microorganisms are present on your body? Take a cotton swab and collect a sample from between your toes. Put the swab in a petri dish and allow it to grow in isolation. Check the growth after a few days. You can collect the sample from various areas such as mouth, your pet's mouth etc.
